A flight of a few tens of meters, on a cliff between Calamosca and the Sella del Diavolo, during a run, one of the many training sessions he used to do in those paths. Thus died Fabio Argiolas , 41, the soldier of whom there was no news since December 27th.

It was the mother who sounded the alarm last night because she could not get in touch with her son. The research was concentrated in the Calamosca area, known by Argiolas, an expert athlete. The body was found around 11 by the search teams formed by the Fire Brigade, Civil Defense, Alpine Rescue Group, Coast Guard, Army and Carabinieri personnel.

Then the transfer on a rubber dinghy to the small port of Marina Piccola for an initial examination by the coroner Roberto Demontis. An autopsy is likely to be ordered. The most probable hypothesis is that of a fall, perhaps due to a fatal distraction, a subsidence of the ground and an injury. Argiolas has fallen.

His body remained there for probably two days until this morning. The desperation of his family members, of his sports friends who shared training and competitions with him, and of his colleagues in the Gennargentu transmission battalion where the chosen corporal had been serving for many years was enormous.

No autopsy expected, the body will be returned to family members.
