The hunter who was hit by a ricocheting bullet yesterday afternoon , during a wild boar hunt in the countryside of Aglientu, died during the night. His name was Pietro Mais, he was 63 years old and a former carabiniere from Villacidro. The doctors' desperate attempt to save his life, with surgery in the operating room at the Giovanni Paolo II hospital in Olbia, was in vain.
The hunter was hit by a stray bullet in the afternoon, with the alarm raised around 4 pm by friends who were busy with him in the wild boar hunt: he collapsed to the ground with a deep wound to the abdomen . It happened in the locality of Mascarizzu, in the municipality of Aglientu but several kilometers from the town center. The intervention of the air rescue was necessary, given the difficulty in reaching the area of the accident.
The first reconstruction, made by the Carabinieri of the Tempio Mobile Radio Unit, confirmed that it was a shot that bounced off a rock and hit the sixty-four year old .
