Queues in front of the checkouts in Tortolì supermarkets for the food collection. The initiative, promoted as part of the "Christmas Miracle", was a success: the volunteers collected around twenty quintals of basic necessities to donate to people in difficulty.

In practice, the poor will be fed with food bought by citizens in all supermarkets, and the goods will be delivered to them through the activities of the diocesan Caritas. "Even a can of peeled tomatoes and a can of peas are an important gift for families in difficulty."

Giorgio Falchi, promoter of the food collection, expresses satisfaction with the outcome of the day organized by the new Pro loco Tortolì-Arbatax with the patronage of the Municipality and the collaboration of the cultural associations. «Donating - continues Falchi - is a unique gesture with immense value. A few cents are enough and they don't make a difference to the families' wallets, but they do for the needy." The group of volunteers met in Piazza Rinascita, dividing their tasks between the various large-scale retail stores.

The initiative was also attended by, among others, the councilor for social services, Irene Murru, and Francesca Melis of the Nuova Pro loco. It will be repeated next Saturday and December 18th.
