Couple is looking for a house to rent, but there are none to be found: the apartments are only available from September/October until April/May. Then off you go, because summer arrives and there is the business of tourists, who pay more. It happens in Venice, in Florence, in Cagliari (to a lesser extent). But also in Tortolì . And if it happens in such a small center , young people, even those who were born and raised there and would like to stay there, are forced to leave. With all due respect to the already ineffective policies against the depopulation of smaller towns.

An emblematic story that tells of a condition common to many is that of Gaia Fadda and her partner. She is 25 years old, works in the online marketing sector. He is 27 and has been a maintenance worker at the La Bitta hotel for five years. They want to start a family in Tortolì. But they don't find a roof. Gaia thus decides to launch an appeal on a social group, which sparks debate and sharing.

«We are quite desperate and like us, there are certainly many others and many other couples who cannot find an apartment to rent all year round», is the debut.

«I was born and raised here and honestly I would like to stay there, and above all let my future children live in my beautiful country. But, damn, is it possible that Tortolì is now becoming a town just for tourists?" : the question is legitimate.

Because «most of the rental apartments put on the market are only available from September or October and up to April and May. What should we do in the remaining summer months?", asks Gaia. Answer : «There are two options: either pay 500 euros a week, if not more, to rent a house in the summer, or go back to your parents».

Not viable options, however: «Even us young people, and especially us residents, would like to live our land, our place», is the reflection, «create our own life here where we grew up, have a house where we can build a family. But it seems almost impossible to find an annual rental and, above all, to have a residence." Because the couple is looking for a rental with a regular contract: "And yes, I apologize, but the situation has become exhausting." The appeal, meanwhile, is still valid.
