According to an initial reconstruction, the driver of the scooter was traveling the wrong way in the direction of Piazza Fra Locci and was unable to stop while the pensioner was crossing on the crosswalk. The old man fell violently onto the asphalt where he remained motionless, in pain. An ambulance crew was called to the scene, alerted by the 118 operations center in Sassari.
The pedestrian, once stabilized, was transported to the Emergency Room of the Lanusei hospital . During the intervention of the volunteer staff he remained alert and conscious at all times.
