Mariuccia Demurtas has turned one hundred years old. The Tortolì community celebrates its grandmother, currently the only centenary in the most populous center of Ogliastra.

Born in Tortolì on October 16, 1921, a widow for years, grandmother Mariuccia (born Maria) is the mother of six children, boasts 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

From a very young age she was one of the first female workers of the place occupied in the tobacco production plant that was active since the years started by bishop Emanuele Virgilio in the twenties of the last century and active until the sixties.

She quit her job when she got married, dedicating her life to her family. She has always carried on her passion for sewing and until the age of 92 she never used glasses. She is lucid and active.

This morning, a delegation from the municipal administration brought her the greetings of the whole community and gave her a commemorative plaque for the coveted goal.
