Salvatore Angioni of Sestu, known to all as Tore, would have turned 53 on Tuesday. Yet there was no birthday cake for him, not even a party. Tore passed away on March 12, 2020 .

And his brother, Giuseppe, found the strength to dedicate these words to him on Facebook : "Certain things are said in person and I would like to tell you many of them. I hope you know that we miss your presence so much. Happy birthday, little brother ."

That morning five years ago, in the midst of quarantine, Tore Angioni went out for one of the few permitted reasons: to go to the post office. And he never returned. In a deserted Cagliari, he was seen on Via Cornalias that same day, and the following day on Viale Trieste .

"I can't believe no one stopped him. It hurts me that those who saw him didn't help him ," continues Giuseppe, a firefighter who has often found missing people. "He wasn't well." After a back problem, Angioni had been using medication to cope with the pain, developing an addiction. He was going through a period of depression . And he certainly wasn't rich; he was on his way to the post office to inquire about the citizen's income .

"And yet I want to say it out loud, Tore loved life," Giuseppe continues. "I don't believe in voluntary separation, nor in extreme actions." Tore had also suffered bullying: "They circulated videos showing him in a state of confusion, in chat rooms, to make fun of him," his brother says bitterly. He still doesn't give up: "Even though I want to hope, it's increasingly difficult to believe he's alive," his brother continues, "but I won't give up, at least I want to find out what happened. Anyone who knows anything, please contact me for any information, even anonymously," is his plea.
