Despite the bad weather and incessant rain, a sea of visitors reached Tonara today for the 43rd Nougat Festival.
The collaboration between Proloco, Municipality and Ccn works, with the partnership of Comunità Montana Gennargentu Mandrolisai, Bim and Region. From 10am the nougat and cowbell making, the traveling tour among the murals of the historic centre, numerous entrances to the historic Sulis Mascia house, as well as to Piazza Mereu with the ancient weaving mill of "Sa Fressada".
Art triumphed with the “Janas de Oje” painting exhibition and the one on traditional dress in the council hall. From late morning until late afternoon, the pouring rain affected the event, which resumed after the clearings with traveling music, also with various groups, including the local folk group and the Tacchi di Ulassai and Osini together with representatives from other centers in traditional dress.
The accommodation facilities in the area were sold out until the evening, with the restaurants offering traditional dishes.
«Despite the unstable climate», says the deputy mayor Cristina Patta, «many wanted to renew the affection that has linked them for years to an event that is a piece of island history and a true symbol of Easter Monday in Sardinia, which enhances the whole mountain".
Patta adds: «Unfortunately the rain affected part of the event, blocking outdoor events and other activities for several hours. We thank all those who have reached the country, demonstrating a renewed bond."
Thus, the President of the Proloco, Pierluigi La Croce: «The time has not been kind. However, we can say that overall it went well, with Tonara once again rewarded and chosen by the many who have had affection for the festival and our artisan excellences for decades. Starting from this event we will work with greater synergy together with the surrounding municipalities, thinking about teamwork to promote the communities. Development passes above all through collaboration with the territory."
