«We cannot leave Brotzu to its fate, a pole of excellence that is unique even at a national level». Edoardo Tocco plays in Forza Italia, is president of the municipal council of Cagliari. And he wants the classroom of Palazzo Bacaredda "to be necessarily involved in decisions concerning the new structure of the island's hospitals, ensuring the strengthening of the current existing services".

Not even he, who belongs to a party that supports the majority in the Region, likes the plan of Christian Solinas' council which provides for the closure of Brotzu and the Oncological Department, with a block on investments, to encourage the construction of the new hospital in the city .

Tocco, in line with what was requested by the centre-left opposition and PSD'Az (Solinas' party) wants the Municipality of Cagliari to be the protagonist in the discussion on the future of health care in the city.

«The construction of new buildings will take several years. Investments must therefore be made, but focusing on the Brotzu and on the other structures of the city. It is necessary to restore oxygen to some of the branches in greatest suffering», concludes the blue, «with the arrival of specialists and nurses, going to strengthen departments and services that have been waiting for reinforcements for some time».
