Healthcare in Barbagia-Mandrolisai doesn't work. Starting from the 118 emergency: the ambulances, often without a doctor on board (there are only 3 doctors present), are unable to cover all calls, despite the service being integrated by the local cooperatives. And at San Camillo di Sorgono, things aren't any better in the emergency room: the new head doctor, winner of the competition at San Martino di Oristano, will soon leave the department, where only one ASL doctor will remain together with the temporary ones.

In the medical department there are 10 beds and 4 doctors (there should be at least 7). The picture of the new week surgery is reassuring with operations from Monday to Thursday. While Radiology, with a structured doctor and a token operator, manifests critical issues during holiday shifts with the impossibility of reporting tests on site.

And while on the one hand the work on the new short-term surgery department is apparently proceeding apace (with the medical department providing the beds) there are those who don't fail to wonder whether any hiring will follow.

«There is very little left compared to what was there just a few years ago», explains Manuel Tanda, head of CISL doctors Nuorom «the mission of a hospital in a disadvantaged location must be to treat urgent pathologies. If San Camillo is reduced to operating as a long-term hospital, the risk is that the seriously ill patient may not be evaluated by a doctor but only by a medical guard."

And again: «The situation is aggravated by 118 starting to operate without doctors and by the air ambulance not operating at night, in case of adverse weather conditions or when engaged in other interventions. We ask for compliance with Ministerial Decree 70 and the 2017 hospital network redefinition law."

The district services are also worrying, with critical issues in pediatric care, with the last specialist about to be transferred together with the endocrinologist. The mental health center is in trouble, with only one psychiatrist for hundreds of patients. Waiting for the reopening of the Tonara day center.

On the agenda for Wednesday 20th is the district mayors' conference and for Friday 22nd the new march of the "SOS Barbagia Mandrolisai Committee" from the Austis crossroads to the hospital.
