On hunger strike until the president of the regional council appoints the regional guarantor for people subject to restriction of personal freedom .

The protest is by the Più Europa group of Cagliari together with some regional councilors, the radical association Rights to Madness and is open to citizens. So far, Piero Comandini (Pd), Laura Caddeo (Demos), Desirè Manca (M5s), Antonio Piu (Progressives), members of the second civil rights council commission and members of the national secretariat of Più Europa have joined. The list is being updated. They will strike "in relay", one day each, to denounce the non-appointment of the three guarantee figures provided for by the regional legislation ; in addition to the Guarantor of persons deprived of personal liberty, also the Guarantor of adolescence and childhood and ombudsman.

As for the first, "Sardinia is the only region in Italy that does not yet have this figure, since 2011, the year of its establishment with a regional law", explained Piero Comandini, councilor of the Democratic Party and member of the second commission that joined to non-violent initiative .

" We have tried in any way to move President Pais who is solely responsible for this situation - added Comandini - in 2021 we proposed a resolution, we have continuously urged President Pais in the Chamber since we took office in 2019". The Guarantor of people subject to restriction of personal freedom has never been appointed in three legislatures: "It is not a marginal fact when it comes to rights - clarifies Nicola Carboni, coordinator of the capital and candidate for the Senate in the past Policies - we will do everything to unseat the president."

"We are hostage to this policy that is governing the Region and the Regional Council - thundered Manca (M5s) - the reason is purely political, they do not agree on the names to choose".

The list of participants in the strike and any other information will be available on the Facebook page of the +Europa group of the Metropolitan City of Cagliari.
