"We will not fail to formally represent the cry of alarm that we have also collected on this occasion". With these words, referring to the serious shortage of administrative personnel in the Prosecutor's Office and in the Court, the vice president of the Superior Council of the Judiciary, Fabio Pinelli, concluded his institutional visit to the Palace of Justice of Nuoro, which took place this morning.
He was welcomed by the President of the Court Mauro Pusceddu, the acting Public Prosecutor Riccardo Belfiori, and the Attorney General at the Court of Appeal of Cagliari.
The Nuoro stage is part of the series of meetings promoted by the vice-presidency of the CSM with the aim of listening directly, in the territories, to the critical issues and needs of the judicial system. After a brief visit to the offices, the official meeting took place in the Court of Assizes, in a session reserved for magistrates.
"A strong judiciary, which works despite everything"
In his speech, Pinelli wanted to express his appreciation for the commitment of the Nuoro magistrates. "We found a strong judiciary, composed of serious, committed professionals capable of obtaining efficient results despite the difficulties. We listened carefully to the problems of the district, which we will bring to the attention of the competent authorities."
On the lack of administrative staff, he specified: "Although it is not the direct responsibility of the Superior Council of the Judiciary - but of the Ministry - we will take charge of representing the cry of alarm collected also on this occasion. The Ministry is certainly aware of it". Finally, he clarified that no judicial policy aspects were discussed during the meeting.
A tour of the judicial offices of Sardinia
Nuoro is one of the stops on Pinelli's institutional tour in Sardinia. In the morning he visited the court of Sassari, where he met the magistrates of the capital and the court of Tempio Pausania. In the afternoon at the court of Lanusei, tomorrow he will conclude the visits with the meeting at the court of Cagliari.
The intervention of the legal profession
Also present was the president of the Nuoro Bar Association, Lorenzo Soro, who illustrated the operational difficulties of the court: "I represented all the problems that afflict our context, linked to judicial activity and the service that is offered to the community. Justice must produce results also externally. When the system blocks - as happens with many criminal practices - there is a risk of paralysis. And this despite the great daily commitment of the magistrates".
On the magistrates front, four new judges will arrive in Nuoro in December, all Sardinians, and the same number in Lanusei, covering one hundred percent of the roles.
