Sardinia is in the showcase. There are 600 heads of selected sheep, coming from 16 sheepfolds across the island, there is the entire agri-food chain, representing the entire island, (cheeses, cured meats, food, artefacts, drinks and much more), artisan workshops and also popular traditions.

The exhibition was inaugurated this morning in the presence of the regional councilor for agriculture, Gianfranco Satta, the president of the Union of Municipalities of Marghine, Franco Scanu, the mayor of Macomer Riccardo Uda, the councilors and city councilors and the city schools. regional branch of Sardinian sheep and agri-food.

An exhibition that returns after a few years of oblivion, with the Macomer fair often not considered by trade associations, which now the municipal administration, with the help of the Region, Laore and the Pro Loco, wanted to relaunch.

The objective is to "reposition" Macomer as the center of the island, not only from a geographical point of view, but above all from a trade fair point of view, a prerogative which has belonged to this territory since the end of the nineteenth century.

«Last year the exhibition was canceled because the trade associations told us that the farmers were not available - says the mayor, Riccardo Uda - but this year we wanted to start again and the response was total: the fair represents the better than the island's economy."

The regional councilor for agriculture Gianfranco Satta is on the same position: «It is a regional exhibition that must become national, given that the sheep raised on the island represent 70% of Italian farms. The Region intends to invest resources so that this exhibition becomes the heritage of our island."

For Maria Sitzia, Agris Sardegna, «is an event awaited by farmers, who have the opportunity to meet and discuss». Luca Belloi, from Laore, echoes this: «This is an important moment for the territory and for the entire island. The Macomer exhibition is important, almost a tradition, for the safeguard and protection of the entire sector. Our contribution is assured."

The event will continue for the whole day, with shows and tastings, with the participation of thousands of people. Tomorrow - Sunday - a full house is expected, to the satisfaction of all the exhibitors, who came from all parts of the island, with many companies represented.
