A cross-border flight record: Caniga, a 5-year-old female griffon took off from Mount Limbara di Tempio and arrived as far as Cap Corse , in northern Corsica . This was confirmed also thanks to GPS by the researchers who report to the Department of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Sassari and who work within the LIFE Safe for Vultures project, in partnership with the Forestas Agency, the Forestry and Environmental Supervisory Body of the Sardinia Region , E-Distribution and Vulture Conservation Foundation.

Never before had a griffin moved between the two islands. Moreover, in Corsica there is not even a permanent colony. Caniga was born in Spain in 2018 and recovered following an injury in the Amus recovery center in Villafranca de los Barros in Extremadura.

It was then included by the Vcf in the repopulation process of the Sardinian colony carried out with the LIFE Under Grifon Wings project, through which 64 specimens from Spain, Holland and Germany were brought to the island.
