He will have to work and commit himself to a volunteer association for several months. This is the re-educational measure and alternative to the 8-month sentence established by the Court of Oristano for Mirco Campus, a forty-nine-year-old from Bolotana. The worker, involved in the sensational story of the photographs that portray him next to the bodies just exhumed in the town cemetery, was accused of vilification of a corpse.

The story dates back to 2018, when the Municipality, in order to recover new spaces in the cemetery, decided to exhume the bodies of the Seventies . It entrusted the task to a specialized company that had the task of photographing the bodies so that the relatives could recognize them and then decide on cremation or burial in the ground. During these operations, Campus would have himself immortalized next to the body of an elderly man (with a bottle of beer in the coffin) and a woman, portrayed with a cigarette in her mouth.

The shots bounced around various chats until that of the councilor for cemetery services Stefano Nieddu who reported the incident to the police. After the investigations, it came to trial: Campus in recent months apologized and tried to clarify his position . The prosecutor Daniela Muntoni had asked for a sentence of one year and 6 months and, in subordination to the conditional suspension of the sentence, the payment of 3,000 euros and work in the parish of the town or with an association. The defense, the lawyer Pietro Paolo Callà, requested the acquittal maintaining that there was no malice and in the case of conviction the conversion of the sentence into community service in the parish.

Judge Paola Bussu sentenced Campus to 8 months converted into work in a voluntary association .
