«The Oristano prison lacks the State». Harsh words expressed by Filippo Blengino, national treasurer of Italian Radicals who today together with the newly elected members of Sardinia Radicale Gabriele Casanova, Giulia Giglio and Emanuele Palomba visited the Massama prison.

«Given a very elderly inmate population, healthcare is cut off and it is increasingly complex to access general and specialist care – he observed – The facility has continued to present serious problems for years, starting with water infiltrations which have never been resolved» .

The treasurer also aimed against the policy that "continues to marginalize and stigmatize prison, not promoting relationships that could be the prelude to fundamental initiatives for social reintegration". Then a reference to the case of Stefano Dal Corso , the Roman prisoner who died in his cell and is under investigation by the prosecutor's office. "Years later, we still can't shed any light."

Filippo Blengino underlined that in the face of the prison emergency, «a change of pace is needed, the State needs to see with its own eyes. For this reason we will invite the president of the Region Alessandra Todde to come to the next visit."
