With the new year, urban activities have also resumed in Carbonia by the Senso Comune association, known in the city for the many interventions of cleaning and organizing squares and carrying out some works.

As the president Monica Pinna explains, «yesterday we took part in Piazza Rinascita, a meeting place for citizens, and thanks to the work of our volunteers, the "gentle benches" were born, we arranged ten of the eleven benches in the square, of which 8 with a nice restyling since many of them were worn out by wear and tear, while the other two were embellished with the purple color (the eleventh is the red bench created for the day against women's violence). A small plaque has been affixed to each with an aphorism, a thought, a poem by a great thinker of the past and contemporary. A totem with a poem by Alda Merini installed next to a purple bench explains the meaning of our initiative better than many words. From today there is one more reason to spend some time in Piazza Rinascita and to enjoy its beauty in the name of kindness. Those who sit in the square for a simple chat or enjoy the cool air on sultry summer evenings will be able to contemplate the beauty and reflect on these "food for thought" that we wanted to give to the city and its citizens".

The association would like to point out, as reported on one of the plaques affixed to a bench, that «what we have done only for ourselves dies with us. What we have done for others and for the world remains and is immortal."
