While the first damage count speaks of 700 hectares going up in flames, the next day, in "Sa Serra", what reigns is an apocalyptic landscape.

Pastures and cork oaks were completely swept away, to the desperation of dozens of farmers who saw their life's sacrifices destroyed.

The day was characterized by clean-ups and checks in the perimeter of the fire, with aerial vehicles and ground teams of the Fire Brigade, Forestry Corps, Forestry and Civil Protection.

Dozens of volunteers: from Vab Nuoro, through the S'Alasi Civil Protection of Tonara and the young people of Galtelli.

«We couldn't turn our backs on those who were suffering. We supported the regional machine in the extinguishing and supply phases", they say, exhausted, after hours of work: "On Monday, we left our offices immediately after the fire, returning home at 9am the following morning. To then start again."

Non-stop work, supported with several tankers and pickups: «The front of the flames was impressive, but thanks to the work with the operators present, we avoided much more serious consequences», conclude the volunteers.

Meanwhile, the network is mobilizing. New solidarity initiatives are on the horizon, with a "paradura" for the affected farmers.
