The pilgrimage to Medjugorje is a nightmare return.

Thirty positive faithful among the 180 who returned to the island after taking part in the trip. Almost all unvaccinated, many of them convinced no vax.

Of these, six are hospitalized in the infectious diseases department of the Aou di Sassari. Almost all elderly born in the 1950s (one even born in 1929): their conditions are not critical but are defined as "serious", some breathe with difficulty with a helmet and risk ending up in intensive care.

According to the agency “Dire”, four of the six hospitalized are not vaccinated. The two vaccinated have complications related to other pathologies.

The fear is that the outbreak will spread. Most of the pilgrims (who departed from Arzachena) come from a dozen towns in Gallura, the others, however, from municipalities in Northern Sardinia and Sassari.

A journey undertaken despite the fact that Bosnia is one of the countries reported most at risk, like all of Eastern Europe. The pilgrims returned to Sardinia on October 28, on the weekend of All Saints they may have had several contacts. Hence the fear of a rapid expansion of the cluster, which could increase the pressure on the Sassari hospital.
