The mayors' front against the wind turbines: "Hands off our history!"
A swathe of heritage assets threatened by wind and solar energy: "Enough with top-down decisions without consulting the communities."Per restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
On the day the Region announced its intention to appeal to the Constitutional Court against the law on suitable areas and confirmed the hearings of the Pratobello committees within 10 days, the mayors recalled the existence of an expanse of island heritage sites threatened by wind and solar power : "Enough with interventions imposed from above," the mayors cry. "The wind turbines will not destroy our landscape and our communities."
But will rebellion be enough? In the municipalities with the most historically and archaeologically significant monuments, exclusive and untouchable, no one has ever attempted to envisage interventions other than protection.
Yet, two kilometers from Santa Cristina di Paulilatino, something no one would have ever imagined is about to happen: "Devastation," says Mayor Domenico Gallus, a former regional councilor. "Speculation imposed from above. I myself learned about the project by chance: we will certainly fight to prevent such a devastation. It's no coincidence that we are the town in the Province of Oristano that received the highest percentage under the Pratobello law."
Another affront to history— decades of scientific studies conducted by Lincei academic Giovanni Lilliu— that a barrier of wind turbines risks obscuring in the name of business could occur in Barumini.
Samuele Gaviano, mayor of Serri, also criticized the wind and photovoltaic projects near the sanctuary of Santa Vittoria. The situation in Torralba is unique. Note: The town, protected by archaeological site regulations, has no plans for any such projects. However, Mayor Pierpaolo Mulas points out that the wind turbines will be installed in Bonorva, Mores, Ittireddu, Borutta, and Cheremule: "The towers would be visible in Santu Antine, but it would be detrimental to us."
Like wind and photovoltaic in S'Incantu di Putifigari, but the fight continues.
