The mayor of Sinnai, Barbara Pusceddu, has issued an ordinance declaring a day of mourning for the funeral (date and time yet to be determined) of Michela Rubiu, a victim of femicide.
The woman died in hospital on Monday after being shot by her husband in Solanas on July 23.
"A tragic case of femicide, a social scourge that—the ordinance reads—continues to strike women and deeply wound the entire community. The communities of Sinnai and Solanas have expressed their shock, dismay, and condolences over what happened."
The funeral will be held in the parish church of "Madonna della Fiducia" in Solanas, at a date and time that will be announced in a subsequent announcement as soon as the family makes it known.
A day of mourning will be declared for the day of the funeral, "interpreting," the decree states, "the sentiment of grief and outrage felt by the entire Sinnai community, deeply affected by the tragic event, and to demonstrate, in a tangible way, our sympathy to the family and relatives." "Flags are to be flown at half-mast in all public administration offices within the municipality. All citizens, especially self-employed businesses, entrepreneurs, and shopkeepers, are encouraged to suspend their activities during the funeral ceremony, using the most appropriate means for the circumstances, as a tangible sign of sympathy to the family and condemnation of all forms of violence against women."
