From this evening a place of historical memory is returned to the city of Sassari . That of the garden in via Quarto, once called "The old forks", where, between the end of the 18th and the beginning of the 19th century, eight Sardinian patriots were executed, including Francesco Cillocco, right arm of Giovanni Maria Angioy .

A space cleaned of rubbish and saved from degradation thanks to the commitment of Sa Domo de Totus, Arvures, the Sardinian National Assembly, Plastic Free Odv, who have adopted the area, and today returned to the capital of Turri with an event inserted within the celebrations for Sa die de sa Sardigna. The project is sponsored by the Municipality of Sassari, present at the meeting with the councilor for the environment, Antonello Sassu.

«We will name this place - explains Cristiano Sabino, professor and exponent of Sa Domo - after the Giardinu de sa sarda revolution. There will be a bilingual plaque, Sassari and Sardinian, to remember that without roots our people will disappear".

The archive researcher Piero Atzori reconstructs the history of the space, of the Angevin uprisings, and of the eight martyrs in the final speech. «The damnatio memoriae descended on them - he affirms - After the hanging and the scattering of the ashes, the memory of them was lost. But their story must be recovered. "We want to rediscover the lives - concludes Sabino - of those who tried to build a free, sovereign and self-determined Sardinia".
