The activity of the Alghero Forestry Corps continues to combat illegal sea urchin fishing within the Capo Caccia-Isola Piana marine protected area. Yesterday, the staff of the Alghero station, during the daily control activity of the entire coastal strip of the Coral Riviera, identified an underwater fisherman in Stamparogias, in the Mugoni pine forest, an area that is located in the middle of a protected marine area.

The foresters, coordinated by Inspector Giuseppe Meloni, waited about 40 minutes before intervening, denouncing the abusive fisherman and seizing 300 sea urchins. Once the fisherman's identification operations had been completed, the precious echinoderms, still vital, were put back into the sea, while the diver was sanctioned and reported to the Sassari Public Prosecutor's Office.

At the same time, another patrol from the Forest Service, this time from the Naval Base, along the coast road that leads from Maristella to the Lazzaretto, intercepted another boy who was darting very fast on a moped, clutching a tile with 400 freshly caught sea urchins between his legs. Marina area. For him, an administrative report worth a thousand euros.
