With 35 years of delay, the first 4 school buses of the Cobus cooperative which manages the service in Oristano enter into service in Sardinia too.

Cobus will soon be equipped with a total of eight methane school buses, thus becoming the regional trailblazer for the energy transition for the transport of people . The school buses delivered to Cobus of Oristano are Iveco Daily, powered by a methane engine that delivers 136 horsepower for a maximum torque of 350 newton meters. A choice that will lead to economic savings and, compared to petrol or diesel engines, pollutes less, because it does not produce sulfur oxide or particulates during combustion.

According to Federico Meloni, general director of the company, «the renewal of the fleet of school buses and buses for transporting people must become a priority for the territory of Sardinia in terms of savings and respect for the environment, with fewer emissions . The Sardinians and Sardinia deserve, after almost half a century of delay, to be able to travel on methane vehicles, slowly eliminating the fleet of diesel vehicles, which today pollutes our Island which can truly become a greener Island, as well as having the cost of methane at competitive prices compared to diesel. Thanks to the coastal storage in Oristano (Higas, ed.), any vehicle, not just rubber vehicles, but also boats can be powered by methane from every part of Sardinia."
