Sardinia and Corsica united to ask for "joint and urgent action to support the maritime route between Santa Teresa di Gallura and Bonifacio".
The appeal is in a letter sent today to the Italian and French governments, signed by the regional councillor for Transport of Sardinia, Barbara Manca , and the president of the Transport Office of Corsica, Jean Felix Acquaviva .
The letter – addressed to the Transport Ministers – was agreed upon during the meeting between the two counterparts in Bonifacio (Corsica) on 27 May and draws attention to the «need to intervene quickly to resolve the structural critical issues of the connection, proposing short and long-term solutions that can guarantee a regular, safe and continuous service to the citizens of the two islands» .
"We continue to work with determination on two parallel levels," declared Councilor Manca. "On the one hand, political and institutional dialogue, through sending the letter to national governments; on the other , operational supervision on the restoration of a minimum essential service that can no longer be subject to interruptions or uncertainties."
