An environmentalist appeal cancels two days of quail hunting in Sardinia.

Earth (Association for the legal protection of nature and animal rights) approached the TAR and, despite not having an office on the island, challenged the hunting calendar approved by the regional environmental department, also calling into question Enalcaccia and the “Hunting Fishing Environment” association.

The precautionary decree arrived yesterday, signed by the president of the first section Marco Buricelli. The first useful date for dealing with the matter on the merits, we read, would be October 4th. But quail hunting, according to the calendar, would have opened on September 17th. The enthusiasts had already oiled their guns for Sunday.

The administrative judge says he wants to avoid "irreversible effects on the interest asserted by the appellant". For this reason, it suspends the effectiveness of the department's provision, for the part that concerns quail, until October 1st.

The decision was also taken on the basis of the opinion of Ispra, «according to which the opening of hunting at the beginning of October guarantees a more complete development of the last born for some huntable species with a delayed end of the reproductive period, including the quail» .
