Hearing in the Court of Appeal - juvenile section of the Court of Sassari - on the appeal presented by the parents of the 41-year-old murderer from Ploaghe, Fulvio Baule , who had expressed their desire to be able to spend time with their grandchildren. The grandparents complained that they had no longer had contact with their grandchildren following the dramatic events against their daughter-in-law Ilaria Saladdino , who was reduced to death by their son, the same one who killed her in-laws with an ax on 26 February 2022, in Porto Torres.

The judges of the Sassari Juvenile Court had rejected at first instance the appeal presented by the Baule spouses, assisted by the lawyer Maria Domenica Camboni, with the justification that «the immediate reweaving of a relationship between the Baule family and the Saladdino family is difficult and traumatic », we read in the sentence. This morning the panel of judges of the Court of Appeal, chaired by Maria Teresa Spanu - alongside Cristina Fois and Cinzia Caleffi -, having listened to the lawyers of the civil party, Gabriele Satta and Gian Mario Solinas, reserved the right to decide with a sentence that could be issued in the next few days.

According to the lawyers, taking into account the report drawn up by the director of the Mental Health Department, "the two minors deserve to be protected from further traumatic experiences such as the attempt at difficult family mediation between intertwined pain and ancient conflicts". Therefore, what prevails is the interest of the minors compared to sacrificing the relationship with their grandparents, "the only possible solution, in the concrete case, to guarantee the protection of a healthy and balanced development of the personality of the two twin children".
