Investigations are underway into the death of Andrea Capone , 43, former Cagliari Calcio midfielder , found lifeless yesterday morning by cleaning staff in the two-story suite of Palazzo Tirso where he was staying after attending a baptism.

According to an initial reconstruction, he reached the bathroom on the upper floor of the room and when he was going back down the stairs he fell and hit his head. Whether he died from the head trauma and the various wounds or whether he had an illness so severe that he had no chance of survival is not yet clear. Today the prosecutor Marco Cocco should order an autopsy.

The detectives of the Flying Squad, the patrol officers and the experts of the Scientific Police are investigating. Acquaintances and friends were immediately questioned, to clarify especially whether there was someone in the bedroom. The investigations have not revealed anything that could suggest an assault or an accidental act with other people involved : for the police, Capone would have entered the room alone.

Investigators have already viewed some images from surveillance cameras in the hotel's common areas. No suspicious movements have emerged.
