Operations to counter irregular migrant departures from the Algerian coast to the northern shore of the Mediterranean continue. Between October 28 and November 3, the Algerian Coast Guard intercepted 107 irregular migrants aboard homemade vessels . According to the Algerian Ministry of Defense's weekly operational report, a total of 296 irregular migrants of various nationalities were apprehended throughout the country during the same period. The ministry did not provide details on the nationalities of those apprehended.

According to the migratory routes recorded in the region, these are predominantly citizens from Sahel countries, who use Algeria as a transit point to reach southern Europe. The migrant boats, known locally as " harraga ," depart primarily from the western and central coasts of Algeria, bound for Spain and the Balearic Islands . To a lesser extent, departures also occur from the eastern coast of Algeria, bound for the Italian island of Sardinia .
