The unbearable smell of burning plastic in Sestu is a constant presence every night . The problem has become an emergency, resulting in sleepless nights and a health risk. Someone is starting fires in the countryside, and the residents are now exasperated. For this reason, they have formed a spontaneous committee and created a "post" on the Facebook group "Tutti gli residenti di Sestu" (All the inhabitants of Sestu) to collect as many testimonies as possible .

"What concerns us is understanding how widespread the phenomenon is and whether there might be a specific area or point where it originates. For this reason , we are asking all the residents of Sestu to help us create a sort of mapping of the reports. The goal is not to accuse anyone or make assumptions, but to gather concrete data and testimonies , so we can report the situation to the relevant authorities," explains the author of the appeal, Carla Portas, who uses the Facebook handle Carla Prt.

And the testimonies are numerous, from various areas. On Via Roma, Via Costantino Imperatore, Via della Resistenza, and Via Cilea, the pestilential odors assail the areas north and south of the Rio Matzeu, and don't even spare the outskirts of Cortexandra. Behind this increasingly difficult-to-control phenomenon is illegal waste disposal.
