The Court of Cassation has accepted the appeal filed by the Sardinia Region during the previous legislatures against Enel, regarding the concessions of the hydroelectric plants of the Taloro system. The ruling overturns the decision of the Higher Court of Public Waters (TSAP), which in 2023 had deemed the Region's takeover, through ENAS (Ente Acque della Sardegna), in the management of large hydroelectric diversions to be illegitimate. "A milestone that marks a turning point towards a more autonomous and sustainable future," underlined Todde, who declared his intention to continue in his role, despite the requests for forfeiture advanced by the Guarantee Panel of the Court of Appeal of Cagliari regarding the reporting of electoral expenses.
The Court of Cassation's judgment recognized the legitimacy of the actions undertaken by the Region, referring to regional laws 17/2000 and 19/2006, which establish the central role of the Region in the management of water resources.
"The ruling of the Court of Cassation - Todde underlined in a note - represents a fundamental step to reaffirm the rights of Sardinia in the management of water resources and in the consolidation of an energy policy that focuses on renewable sources. This result also strengthens the position of the Region in the planning of the new Regional Energy Plan and in the establishment of the Energy Company of Sardinia".
