The contract with the Municipality of Arzachena expires, the Police evicted from Porto Cervo

The solution must be found, and quickly too, because there is an eviction order signed by the Municipality of Arzachena which concerns the Porto Cervo police station, which is currently located in the building of the former youth hostel on the seafront of Cannigione.
In fact, on April 30, the free loan contract for the property, owned by the municipal administration, now occupied by the offices of the State Police station, expires.
A case, raised by the mayor Roberto Ragnedda, who calls into question the Ministry of the Interior, which will soon be forced to find another arrangement for the presence of the police forces in an area that includes the municipalities of Arzachena, Palau and La Maddalena, very popular especially during the summer period.
The provincial secretariats of Siulp, Siap and Silp CGIL are also raising a cry of alarm. They ask that new logistical conditions be planned "to be associated with the vaunted increase in staff". «We are talking about a fundamental garrison for the obvious reasons linked to tourism, also capable of providing a constant and efficient service to the inhabitants of the three municipalities, Arzachena, Palau and La Maddalena, included in its jurisdiction. A police station which, despite the chronic shortage of staff, in particular has not been affected by the well-known problem relating to the issuing of passports, which on the contrary represents a clear critical issue in the rest of the police offices throughout Italy", write the heads of the provincial secretariats of Sassari of the Police unions, Angelo Chessa, Massimiliano Pala and Alessandro Cosso.
In 2023, the Porto Cervo garrison issued approximately 1600 passports, 240 weapons licenses, four thousand people were checked as well as nine hundred vehicles. «We request decisive intervention in the competent sectors of the public security department, to resume dialogue with the Arzachenese municipal administration capable of resolving the matter positively», conclude the secretariats.
