Unvaccinated doctors have returned to work, there is no longer a state of emergency, the restrictions are just a bad and distant memory. But in the hospital, in Cagliari, treatment is denied due to Covid. "This is why people die more than before, because patients are not taken care of": Francesca Polidetti is the daughter of Maria Assunta Durzu, 67, who had a gastroscopy scheduled for November 11, at the Santissima Trinità. On the 9th she underwent a preventive swab: it tested positive.

"For obvious reasons, the visit on the 11th was skipped and, although my mother tested negative for the swab performed at the pharmacy on the 14th", says her daughter, " she was told by telephone that the visit cannot be rescheduled for a month or more even a month and a half from the last negative swab, as it is hospital practice not to allow patients who have been positive for Covid to enter the ward before this time has passed.

A measure not foreseen by any protocol. The gastroscopy, however, is urgent: «We reported it. We were told to go to another establishment. But even if we want to follow this advice», explains Polidetti, «the first visit available under the agreement is in July 2023». The family can afford them: they will go to a private centre.

But a reflection cannot be omitted: "At this point we ask ourselves how it is possible, more than two years after the beginning of the pandemic and after the readmission to service of unvaccinated doctors, that a patient cannot make a visit to a hospital ward, despite being vaccinated even with the fourth dose and now testing negative for Covid-19», asks the patient's daughter, «my family and I would like to know the medical-scientific reasons behind such a decision by the hospital hospitalization and understand if this treatment is reserved only for patients or also for healthcare personnel working in the hospital, who in this case would be readmitted to service no earlier than a month and a half from the last negative swab. The only certainty we have at the moment is that my mother will not die of Covid which caused her a simple cold for about three days», is the bitter thought, « but she could have a serious undiagnosed pathology that has been causing her disturbances for months to the gastrointestinal system".

An email with the detailed story of the story was also sent to Ares and the Department of Health: "I'm waiting for them to answer me", concludes Polidettti, "but I don't hope so".
