A fire in the night destroyed the car of Mauro Azzena, mayor of Luras .

The car, parked in via Municipio, caught fire around 3. The fire brigade intervened on the spot, extinguishing the flames, and the carabinieri of the Compagnia di Tempio Pausania.

The military, led by captain Giuseppe Scotto di Tella, have started investigations to establish whether behind the fire there is an act of intimidation against the mayor , who however declared that he had not suffered threats of any kind.

The president of the regional council, Michele Pais , expressed solidarity with the mayor Azzena: "Once again a local administrator is in the crosshairs of uncivilized people who express their dissent in an undemocratic and criminal way. We await the outcome of the investigations but if it should be confirmed the hypothesis of malice, I express, also on behalf of the entire regional Assembly, solidarity with the mayor Azzena, his family, the city council and the entire community ".

Proximity also from Anci Sardegna through the president Emiliano Deiana who speaks of “an attack that once again places public administrators in the focus of the crosshairs. Everyone, individuals and institutions, should understand - because it is hard to understand - that the role of the mayor should once again be 'sacred'; sacred does not mean free from errors, shortcomings, mistakes: but the function must be considered sacred. Instead, we continue, on every occasion, in the activity of delegitimization - institutional and social - which legitimizes anyone to overflow from civilization and carry out uncivilized and criminal acts ".
