Porto Torres is ready to welcome the Cagliaritan kayaker Carlo Coni, who has been busy circumnavigating Sardinia by kayak since March 26th as part of the ecological-environmental project "Everybody in the same boat".

Its journey, to be completed in a month, includes several stops in 14 municipalities on the island where entire days are dedicated to cleaning the coasts and internal areas. On board his kayak the athlete intends to raise awareness of the problem of plastic pollution in our seas and the Turritana municipal administration, very sensitive to environmental issues, enthusiastically welcomed his invitation to participate in the initiative. For this reason, on Friday 12 April, he will await his arrival, scheduled for 10am, on the Scoglio Lungo beach where Coni will arrive accompanied by the kayakers of the AzenKayak association of Porto Torres. The cleaning will be coordinated by AzenKayak and Atena Trekking Porto Torres with the help of volunteers from the various associations who have joined the awareness day and all those who want to participate by helping to clean up the beach. All this will also be done thanks to the collaboration of the Sangalli Giancarlo & CSrl Company, manager of the city's garbage collection service, which will provide gloves and bags for waste collection and will take care of separating it. In fact, during the day, the importance of correct separate waste collection and respect for the natural elements present on the beaches will be reiterated.

The students of the “Mario Paglietti” Higher Institute will also participate in the initiative. The high school, TTL Nautico and Smat (IPIA) classes will start the cleaning which will continue with the association members and volunteers. Representatives of the Municipality of Desulo, one of the first to join, were also invited. “All in the same boat” will be repeated the following day, Saturday 13 April, in the Asinara Island Park where the volunteers of the associations, the guides and the Park operators will collaborate in cleaning the stretch between the Fornelli pier and the Spalmatore beach. Carlo Coni will arrive in Porto Torres from Valledoria where he is currently parked. the second time the 47-year-old instructor has undertaken this adventure. In 2018 he circumnavigated the island with departure and return to Cagliari, covering 544 nautical miles in 35 days, for a total of 165 hours of paddling.
