"Irrevocable" resignation, effective immediately. In a letter sent to the Board of Directors, the Regional Presidency, and the Department of Industry, CACIP President Barbara Porru announced her intention to step down from her position at the helm of the Cagliari Industrial Consortium. She anticipated the situation: three mayors on the board of directors (Mario Puddu for Assemini, Beniamino Garau for Capoterra, and Angelo Dessì for Sarroch) had requested the convocation of the organization's shareholders' meeting for today, with a motion of no confidence in the president on the agenda.

Now the succession battle begins (the position could be awarded to the mayor of Capoterra). And it might not just be a political game played out to stay confined to Macchiareddu. Cacip is carrying Tecnocasic with its failed revamping of the waste-to-energy plant, which has so far only burned money. The subsidiary is unable to approve the budget without the multi-million dollar contribution (it would be the latest in recent years) from the parent company: the gap could be filled with money from local taxpayers, through the Tari (will it increase?). But there's also the huge issue of the Free Zone.

The decision to resign, Porru writes, "comes as a result of a progressive weakening of the conditions of sharing and mutual institutional trust that must necessarily characterize the exercise of the role of president, at a particularly delicate time for the life of the Consortium and its in-house company Tecnocasic Spa," the document states.

Over the past few months, including through in-depth analysis undertaken by the Consortium's bodies, "significant critical issues regarding the management of the subsidiary have emerged, which will require particularly challenging decisions in the coming months and a strong degree of institutional cohesion among the Consortium's bodies."

For Porru, "the conditions for continuing with the necessary serenity in the exercise of the role of president no longer exist ." Thanks follow. And a closing statement that feels like a warning. Porru hopes that "the organization can regain full cohesion among its bodies and promptly and responsibly address the significant challenges facing the Consortium and Tecnocasic Spa, in the exclusive interest of public assets, workers, and the community they administer."
