By the end of October, the two prosecutors coordinating the investigation into the murder of Leonardo Mocci, the 24-year-old from Villacidro killed in Monserrato on the night of April 22nd and 23rd, could conclude their investigation and formally request an immediate trial from the investigating judge. Following the arrest of the four alleged robbers who allegedly plotted the murder of the young man and a friend, under the pretext of selling him three kilos of cheap hashish, the Prosecutor's Office assigned the Carabinieri RIS unit to examine the cigarette butts recovered from the crime scene, as well as complete the examination of the suspects' cell phones. Once completed, prosecutors Enrico Lussu and Diana Lecca could request an immediate trial, a procedure that allows the case to proceed directly to trial, bypassing the preliminary hearing, and which can be done when the prosecution believes it has secured sufficient evidence.

Meanwhile, Nicholas Minio, 23, from Monserrato, suspected of being the young man who fired a single shot at Mocci's heart during the robbery, remains in prison, as do his alleged accomplices: brothers Gianmarco and Filippo Tunis, 24 and 20, from Pirri, and Daniel Campus, 22, from Quaurtu.

The Court of Appeal rejected the appeal of the four defendants against their pre-trial detention, but Minio's lawyers appealed to the Supreme Court of Cassation.
