The recent proposal for a company act by the Aou of Sassari provides for the suppression of the hospital "pink code" , dedicated to women victims of violence and to the protection of fragility.

An "incomprehensible, unjustifiable and unjust" decision according to Desirè Manca , who recalls how the code pink is a path to support women, but also minors, victims of violence and mistreatment .

"This decision - the pentastellata regional councilor thunders - does not take into account the escalation of violence against women that has never stopped in Sardinia: just six days have passed since the murder of Capoterra , where a 50-year-old man killed the stabbed partner, and we all remember the terrifying numbers of 2021 which count a long series of tragic crimes and a surge in complaints . A real massacre that must be fought.”

The dismantling of the pink code, he continues, is a "symptom of the failure of the regional health system , unable to support and sustain an essential project, which the lack of political will has chosen to wreck".

Sardinia is one of the first regions of Italy to have set up this dedicated route, but "it has never worked so that it could really take off". Yet "protecting women victims of violence is an essential step in combating this phenomenon that destabilizes the lives of so many people every day".

For its part, the strategic management of the Aou of Sassari, in a note, explains: "The Pink Code exists in the company act of the Aou of Sassari".

"The company deed, still in draft form, after its presentation on 28 October last, was brought to the attention of the trade union organizations who responded with their observations within the established deadlines"

“We accepted various suggestions from the unions - says the management - and among these the one referring to the Pink Code. We have thus inserted the Pink Code Coordination and victims of violence as a transversal function to the simple departmental structures of Psychiatry and Hospital Psychology".

"The Pink Code Coordination is therefore envisaged - as set out in article 6 paragraph 1 of regional law number 23 of 17 November 2014 - as an access path to the emergency room dedicated to victims of all forms of violence, without distinction or discrimination , with particular attention to women", continues the Aou.

“A path therefore which, like a Pdta that is a diagnostic therapeutic assistance path, does not necessarily require a structure but is based on a multidisciplinary type of work. In this way we place it in the hands of two already active structures that have been operating in this area for some time, even with a victimology centre”, concludes the management.
