The attack from behind, the stab wounds to the neck and abdomen, the threats: "I'll kill you." Putting all the pieces together, the Carabinieri of the Oristano Company arrested a 59-year-old from Marrubiu, Franco Porcella, for attempted aggravated murder and unjustified possession of a knife. The precautionary measure order, issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Oristano, was carried out on Wednesday evening but the episode dates back to 5 December.

In Piazza Cattedrale around 2pm, a 44-year-old, originally from San Gavino but resident in Guspini (domiciled in Terralba), was joined by Porcella who, with a pattadese in his hand (with a blade of approximately 15 centimetres), attacked him from behind. Various slashes to his neck and jugular area, then he repeatedly attempted to deliver other stab wounds to his abdomen, neck and shoulder. The man kept repeating "I'll kill you", then the warning not to call the police otherwise there could be heavy retaliation. Dramatic moments, the victim, despite the wound, managed to free himself and escape. The attacker also ran away but in the late evening of Tuesday 5 December he was tracked down by the police who also found the switchblade, stained with blood, at his home.

Porcella was interviewed for a long time and it emerged that the attack was linked to personal issues. The complaint for attempted murder was immediately filed but further investigations led to the request for arrest. The investigating judge then issued the precautionary custody order: the 59-year-old is in the Massama prison.
