This morning in the church of Sant'Orsola, in Sassari, the last farewell to Christian Foddai and Chiara Urgias , the two very young engaged couples who died in the road accident on March 17th on state road 291.

It was Archbishop Gianfranco Saba who celebrated the funeral of the two boys aged just 17 and 20 , who died in the terrible crash on the road between Sassari and Alghero near Tottubella. The church proved to be too small to accommodate the crowd of emotional people who wanted to gather around the pain of the family members .

Monsignor Saba sought words of consolation in his speech, even though Chiara and Christian's parents were inconsolable. At the end of the religious service , the white and green balloons flew into the sky, as a final homage to the two lives broken before their time , two boys who met their death one Sunday evening on board their small Fiat 600 while traveling towards Alghero, entering collision with a Mercedes SUV driven by Antonio Luigi Murineddu, a 41-year-old from Sassari, who also died in the head-on collision, at km 1,600 of state road 291.

The Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation into the tragedy probably caused by a risky overtaking manoeuvre .

In the afternoon, however, at 3.30 pm, the funeral of Antonio Luigi Murineddu, 41 years old , the third victim of last Sunday's accident on the 291, was celebrated. His wife Milena, his daughter Azzurra, together with family, friends and colleagues, gave him the last farewell in the church of San Pietro di Silki. The man, a nautical engine mechanic, died while driving his Mercedes, while traveling in the direction of Sassari, when the SUV collided with the small car containing the two young engaged men.
