A large fire broke out in the early afternoon near the entrance to the four-lane Olbia-Sassari highway.

High plumes of smoke and reduced visibility are limiting operations at Costa Smeralda Airport: incoming flights have been diverted to Cagliari, Alghero, Rome Fiumicino, Pisa, and Corsica, and subsequent flights are experiencing hours-long delays in landing. The airspace reopened late this evening, according to Geasar, the Gallura airport's management company.

On site, in addition to the ground teams of the Fire Brigade, Civil Protection and Forestas, two helicopters, a Super Puma and also a Canadair, with water supplies at sea, under the worried gaze of swimmers and boaters ( VIDEO ).

On June 29, the same problems were experienced at Riviera del Corallo: flights arriving in Alghero had been diverted to Cagliari due to a fire in the Santa Maria La Palma area.
