He will have to pay the Ministry of Defense over €258,000, plus interest and revaluation, because he is accused of having unlawfully received, between 2015 and 2021, compensation awarded to fishermen penalized by the Capo Frasca firing range. Gianluigi Lampis, 60, from Arbus, was convicted by the Court of Auditors following a trial before a panel presided over by Judge Donata Cabras, joined by colleagues Tommaso Parisi and Valeria Mistretta.

The fisherman, a business owner, was assisted by lawyer Rita Sanna: according to the prosecution, he received the compensation through a line of credit in the name of the Municipality of Arbus.

The tax investigation stemmed from a complaint from the Guardia di Finanza's Naval Operations Section concerning a number of companies that had been awarded funds for fishing restrictions. The recipients, according to the law, had to be professional operators, registered with the Register of Maritime Fishermen, and with proven activity for at least 120 days in the areas affected by the polygon.

According to the investigations, Lampis was found to be employed by a nursing cooperative, while some of the fishermen on board were not registered with social security. Hence the decision to order him to repay the Ministry for the money he received for his military activities.
