An appeal against the suspension (lasting twenty days) and salary reduction of primary school teacher Marisa Francescangeli was presented this morning at the Oristano labor court.

The 58-year-old teacher of the primary school of San Vero Milis ended up at the center of controversy for having asked the pupils to make a small rosary with 10 beads in the shape of a bracelet and for having recited a Hail Mary and the Our Father together with the children during replacing a colleague in a third grade on the last day of school before the Christmas break of 2022.

But the Uil union is not there and has filed the appeal, which disputes procedural and merit issues, through its lawyers Elisabetta Mameli and Domenico Naso. «There is no evidence of the facts - said Naso - There is no verification of what is being said. The measure, very heavy, was ordered only on the basis of statements by three mothers who reported their version to the head teacher . Nothing else. So say the deeds. It is their word against that of the teacher. That is why we will ask the judge to cancel the suspension ».

« All the part concerning the proof of the facts that are reported by three parents during an interview with the manager is missing - explains the lawyer - and we don't even know of statements from other teachers, as instead was written by the provincial school office itself. The Usp also says that the teacher has always had good conduct. That's why he has never had disciplinary sanctions. Reason for which the sanction according to them is reduced ".

The Ministry of Education and Merit is also following the case and has already decided to send three inspectors. "The process took place over several months," said Minister Giuseppe Valditara. «Instead of teaching geography, history and mathematics, the teacher would have them sing religious hymns or pray. It is therefore a violation of an obligation established by law ».
