Healthcare is still under the magnifying glass, this time by the National Agency for Regional Health Services (Agenas) which has published data on waiting lists for surgical operations in accredited public or private facilities .
In general, good results in all Italian regions and also on the island , with the health service struggling to respect waiting times for specialist visits and diagnostic tests - as highlighted by the Acli Salute data for which the island it is fourth in Italy in terms of health spending per capita but third to last in terms of levels of assistance - it is decidedly more reliable when it comes to surgical interventions for clinical cases that can worsen quickly.
In 2022 the national data , and the Island is no exception, explains how eight times out of 10 the deadlines were respected for those on the list for heart surgery or to remove a tumor .
Going into detail, however, what stands out is that the percentage value for 2022 is decreasing compared to 2021 and even more so compared to the pre-pandemic (2019), with negative peaks in some regions and among these, Sardinia.
In the oncology area for Sardinia the variation between 2022 and 2021 is -10.91% , a figure that places the island in second place on the national scale of the worst performances. Negative data also in comparison with the pre-pandemic period, with -9.46%.
The result in the cardiovascular area was better, with the data marking -4.71% in the 2022-2021 period , while remaining unchanged in the 2022-2019 comparison .
