Called to manage a department that never came into being. “Fired” from the position because, the protest goes, he had not achieved his goals. All in less than a year. “It’s his fault,” the Arnas Brotzu top brass claim. “They didn’t put me in a position to work, even though I tried in every way” is, in short, the reply of the person directly concerned: Massimiliano Tuveri, a medical luminary who three days ago saw his management of the complex structure of General Oncology Surgery revoked without having been able to perform even one operation. In his support there is also a complaint to the Court of Auditors signed by 13 colleagues.

The department

The contract was signed on June 1st last year: Tuveri had won the tender to manage a newly established facility. However, there was nothing organized. The surgeon took up service: he settled into a small room. But he had no team. Nor operating rooms. So he didn't use the scalpel but dedicated himself to consulting patients who had passed through the CUP.

The clash

In July 2024, Arnas (Dg Agnese Foddis and Ds Raimondo Pinna) assigned him two hospital rooms with four beds. The staff? Not specialized in his branch, shared with another department. Tuveri, through the lawyer Gianni Benevole, proceeded with the first two warnings. And asked to be sent to a hospital in Verona, where he remained until December, the end of the transfer period.

Arnas says that Tuveri will have to operate in the rooms that will be made available, but the department is not yet staffed. And the patients he had waiting are going elsewhere.

The exchange of communications begins. On January 29, the health director Raimondo Pinna makes an operating room available for February 6. Tuveri informs that the patients waiting (people with cancer) were no longer there, that the notice was too short and that the spaces offered were not adequate anyway.

And it happens that on that date Tuveri stays in a room, he can't work. On March 6 the disciplinary dispute starts: Arnas prosecutes him because it considers him non-compliant. On April 22 the decision arrives: the role of director of a complex structure is revoked. And the doctor appeals: according to what is leaked, the measure could be blocked, in the Region it was not appreciated by everyone.
