Sunflower, the reeds along the river are on fire: some tourist structures are lapped

Maxi fire on the bed of the Rio Girasole. The fire broke out around 3.30 pm with the flames which, fed by the mistral wind, licked the Girasole campsite and, on the opposite side, the pine forest bordering the Iscrixedda campsite in Lotzorai.

The reeds that developed along the river were in ashes, with the cloud of black smoke visible in half of Ogliastra. No other damage would have emerged, at least according to an initial survey.

However, there were moments of tension between the owners of the nearby structures and farms.

The civil protection machine with a helicopter, the firefighters of Tortolì, Forestale and Forestas intervened on the spot.

Several groups of volunteers and the Tortolì carabinieri were also on site. The alarm stopped around 19.30 when the clean-up operations began.
