A violent hailstorm hit the south-eastern area of Sardinia: the coast road between Cagliari and Villasimius was covered by a thick blanket of ice, like the surrounding hills. White effect also for the beaches, from Solanas onwards.

"It was very strong, it lasted over an hour and at a certain point it became difficult even to continue driving," explains Lorenzo Busillacchi, an amateur photographer, who found himself driving along the road while the phenomenon was unleashed in all its force . However, the final result was spectacular: «The beaches were whitewashed. I felt like I was back in 1986, when the snow had covered the Poetto in Cagliari».

In the evening, a further deterioration is expected throughout the island, which could lead to more heavy snowfalls in areas already covered by a thick blanket.
