Sardinia is experiencing heat, wildfires, and thunderstorms. The regional civil protection agency has issued a weather alert for hydrogeological risks caused by thunderstorms, valid until 6:00 PM tomorrow. A yellow warning is in effect for the entire island except for Sulcis and Gallura.

A violent downpour hit Mandas this afternoon. Rain and hail are causing flooding in several areas of the town, where firefighters are responding. "The severe weather also caused several trees to fall in the town," explains Mayor Umberto Oppus. "We are monitoring the situation to determine if there will be further damage."

On the other front, the fight against the fires continues. Since early afternoon, the Forestry Corps has been responding with ground vehicles and helicopters in Siurgus Donigala , Barumini , and Nurri .
