Sardinia is experiencing heat, wildfires, and thunderstorms. The regional civil protection agency has issued a weather alert for hydrogeological risks caused by thunderstorms, valid until 6:00 PM tomorrow. A yellow warning is in effect for the entire island except for Sulcis and Gallura.

A violent downpour hit Mandas this afternoon. Rain and hail caused flooding in several areas of the town, where firefighters are responding.

"The bad weather also caused some trees to fall in the town center," explains Mayor Umberto Oppus: "We are monitoring the situation to determine if there will be further damage." Further rainfall is reported further north in the Sassari area between Thiesi and Ittiri.

On the other front, the fight against fires continues. Since early afternoon, the Forestry Corps has been responding with ground vehicles and helicopters in Siurgus Donigala , Barumini , and Nurri . In northern Sardinia, a fire is active in Monti .
