An emotional entrance , especially among the parents of the younger sisters and brothers , but also a great awareness of the role that each of them will have for the Confraternity and for the community of Stintino.
On the occasion of the celebrations for the Immaculate Conception, as part of the festivities for the 160th anniversary of the Stintino association, the town welcomed the new members of the historic Confraternity .
The young people, with the white dress and the blue cape for the males and the traditional cord for the females, were thus the protagonists of a centuries-old tradition .
This passage marks not only the continuity of the association, but also the responsibility to carry forward the values of faith and community. Marina, Lorenzo, Marcello, Camilla, Francesca, Giovanni, Giulia, Carlotta, Antonio and Yudiel, they are the new members of the association, who join the many who with faith and devotion carry forward the values handed down for generations. " Today we pay homage to the Virgin - said Don Daniele Contieri, parish priest of Stintino during the liturgical celebration in the church of via Sassari - and we place ourselves under her patronage . Just like these boys and girls who have signed up to the Confraternity. They place themselves under her protection, and this implies commitment, the will to adhere to the ideals, the virtues of the Madonna, with all the difficulties we experience in our lives".
At the end of the celebration, the faithful followed the brothers to the headquarters in via Sassari. Here, the small simulacrum of the Virgin was also brought, a historic symbol of the brotherhood brought by the founders of the town from the island of Asinara. The small statue will remain guarded, for some time, in the headquarters of the Confraternity. President Antonio Diana wanted to thank the citizens and parents of the new members, so, before cutting the cake for the celebrations of the Confraternity, he presented two awards. A plaque was given to the outgoing treasurer Paolo Satta, who became councilor emeritus, and another to the president emeritus, Giuseppe Benenati, who for 24 years represented the Confraternity, also leading it along a path of renewal, until its transformation into a non-profit organization. The celebration was attended by the mayor of Stintino, Rita Vallebella, and representatives of the police force.
