A man negotiated a three-year prison sentence this morning for the deaths of Steven Carbini and Angelica Angulo Gomez , two 18 and 17-year-old boys from Villacidro (she was pregnant), who lost their lives in a car accident on November 20, 2020 in Villasor.

It is Roberto Murru, a 40-year-old from Selargius who rented the Mercedes A-class with which the crash occurred to Carbini (who did not have a driving licence).

The accident along State Road 196: the Mercedes driven by the young man crashed into a tractor, a very violent impact that left both boys with no way out, who were returning to Cagliari where they were arranging the new house which within a few months should have welcome them together with their baby .

Angelica's mother had entrusted Giesse Compensation for damages by appearing as a civil party, today the plea deal has arrived. The defendant has asked to be able to replace the sentence with works of public utility, a request on which the judge will decide on 7 June.

On that road with a limit of 50 km per hour - reconstructs Giuseppe Pilichi, head of the Giesse Compensation for Damages office in Cagliari - « the boy was traveling at 180, moved slightly to the left in view of overtaking and, noticing a car arriving from the opposite direction, he tried to get back into his lane, however, failing to avoid the agricultural vehicle that was in front of him ».

The Mercedes spun around a couple of times and then ended up in a ditch, help was useless.

The prosecutor, added Pilichi, " talked about the clear responsibility of the 18-year-old who ran at breakneck speed, but we cannot forget that someone gave him the opportunity to do so, handing him a car that he could not drive ".
